It’s that time of the year ya’ll! The WeatherTech Sportscar Championship and FIA WEC is back to the only place worthy enough in the USA. Lets all roundup and say howdy! Who will be attending Lone Star LeMans this year? Time and location after the jump along with a Special Gues t announcement.

I will be there as soon as the gates open in the early morning. I will have my black OPPO t-shirt, white shorts, and my red/white LaLD hat. Before the race, me and my fam will stop by a !!!error: Indecipherable SUB-paragraph formatting!!! right outside the Lot P entrance to get some breakfast tacos before hand, as is tradition :]

Stupid day job interfering with my racin’. The Lambo team folded at the start of the year and I haven’t been able to get the unpaid leave to work other race gigs beyond the McLaren deal back in April. Miss it.

Damn right, and I’d much rather spend 14 hours a day working on race cars than 9 banging my head against the wall in the office. I started a conversation with the owner today about future plans and ownership though, we’ll see where that goes.

I’ve been here for basically 20 years, everyone assumes I’m taking it over, but the owner has no plan for retirement or succession. In the meantime, I and R32Rennsport do all the work in the office and are broke as fuck supporting our families.

your preaching to the choir homie. We are a family run dealer and have zero benefits. I don’t have kids but my wallet thinks otherwise. This little boost will not change the “check to check” situation one bit. All I can hope is to stick it out for a while and build my resume up to make a move in a couple years I suppose. I think at 30 years old I still have a little more time before finding that typical “i’ve been here for 35 years” workplace clique lolz :]

I’m sure you have heard this before but maybe you and r32 should maybe join forces in some way to either take over fully or branch off independently. That or just hang in there at the shop. Maybe things will come around.

Hopefully you get that promotion, a little time in that job could give you a sweet resume boost to hop to another gig! You’ve got time, 30 with a great wife, a house, and no kids in your position ain’t a bad place to be. I’m on the slope to 40 and wondering what the fuck I’ve done with my career to be living check to check with no retirement at this point.

Funny you mention the shop, I had lunch with the owner yesterday to question him about the future, because four of us have young families to support and we’re getting frustrated. It was a long time coming, but was a good start to a much longer conversation. I need to do something to improve my own happiness, ability to support my family, and that will allow me to race more. Gotta get to Le Mans while I can still physically do the work!

You know, if I/we move forward into ownership, that would mean R32 would be in the office more and we’d need a good parts guy... that desk is even already loaded with diecasts! No more 115 degree days :)

On the realz though dude, i’m in the same place with not retirement fund (because impossible) and kids are not far away. Anything kush is taken. If open, you gotta know the right people to get in.

OK, I’ll be there Sat @ 1000, but not meeting with the Oppo crowd. I FINALLY managed to find a photographic pass (had to buy) that will let me onto the track. So I am bringing my gear and seeing what I can ‘accidentally’ get into. Oh, and I’ll try out the X-T2 becuase Fuji is sponsoring this or something.
Can’t wait!
